Why Worship?

Why do we have Deaf Café? Why do we worship? Why do we go to church on Sunday?

Why? Why? Why?

We must let go of our own idea of worship and realize there is more to worship than a sermon.

Sermons are for Sunday. God’s word feeds us every day.

We must remember to set aside a time to worship and a time to witness and understand the fact that worship is not focused on the lost who need to be saved. Worship is focused on God.

Everyone needs to hear God’s Word, but lost sinners who need to know Jesus Christ are around us in the world every day. Believers need to share the Gospel every day and worship God in all they do.

We must remember that worship is not for entertainment and remind ourselves that Deaf Café is not a Christian variety show. Deaf Café is an act of worship.

We gather together in worship to glorify God the Almighty.

God is the Creator of the Universe and the One who gives life and salvation. He is our Redeemer and King and He speaks to us through the preaching of His Word which reminds us what Jesus did on the Cross one time and for all people.

God wants to communicate with us, and God wants to have first place in our hearts. God wants to live in our hearts forever.

And, as we go through the experience of meeting with him in the time and place of public worship, we need to respond. Response is a verb. Response is not a noun.

But response is not just singing a hymn, not just sitting in a church someplace, not just coming to Deaf Café, or not just saying a prayer.

Response, from the very beginning of worship to the end, must be a powerful inner experience of actually being in the presence of Almighty God.

When we sing a hymn or say a confession or prayer, we are not singing or saying words, but expressing a feeling. We can do these things anytime. Worship happens in different ways, at any time, and wherever we are.

Worship is truly responding and communicating to the living and active presence of a loving and merciful God. Worship is an everyday event. How do we worship God in our lives?

Worship Is a verb. Worship is not a noun.

Deaf Café is in two weeks. It is our goal that God be worshipped and glorified through what He is able to do through Deaf Café.
