Unity

Howdy everyone,

Heard the song this week "Victory in Jesus" and it started me thinking. We have victory in choosing a theme. We have victory in choosing music. We have victory in finding people to fill the roles in the dramas. We have victory in finding people to fill the various support roles. We practice and practice to make sure we are prepared for the program to come out the way we expect it to come out. But in the end, God will work it out His way. In the end the victory is in Jesus Christ alone.

Will Deaf Café ever find victory to the fullest? Deaf Café’s victory is found only in glorifying God and joining His purpose for us. Deaf Café is not one person. Deaf Café is the Body of Christ brought together by God for His purpose and glory. We come from different churches, different backgrounds, and different places. But in our diversity there is unity. Deaf Café must discover its common bonds and make that our focus. Anything less is not acceptable. That focus is Jesus Christ and Him alone. By glorifying the Son we glorify God.

One of the most impressive things about Deaf Café is the great combination of unity and diversity that exists here. Some may not see it this way but Deaf Cafe is very diverse while maintaining a unity of spirit. There is strength in our unity and there is also strength in our diversity.

Unity comes from holding things in common. We must be on the same page with our goals. The Disciples only goal was spreading the gospel. We may have differences of opinions, but we must come together on certain things. This is found in Paul's letter to the Ephesians.

One body
One Spirit
One hope
One Lord
One faith
One baptism
One God

In the book of Ephesians, more than any of Paul’s other letters, he calls the church to be unified. Paul mentions the unity of the church 18 times in Ephesians. If you read through the entire book you will begin to think Paul is repeating himself. And you would be right. He is. Both Paul and Jesus agree on this: unity in the church is not just a good thing. Unity is essential.

Our common goal is to boldly, honestly, and truly present the Gospel in a way that people will come to reconciliation with God through a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. As we go into the October program, remember God will work things out to His glory and purpose. That is Deaf Café’s victory and Deaf Café’s unity.
